Is Clinton Community College closing or merging with SUNY Plattsburgh?
No. Clinton Community College is simply moving to a new location. We will offer our two-year degrees, certificates, and microcredentials for the region and beyond. We remain the only authorized provider of accredited two-year degrees locally.
When is Clinton Community College moving?
Clinton Community College will open in its new location by August 2025 for the fall semester. The move will not interrupt the academic progress of current, enrolling, or applying students.
Why is Clinton Community College moving?
The new location will ensure long-term sustainability and success by streamlining operations and costs, providing a better experiences for Clinton Community College students, and allowing the college to invest in more in-demand degrees that lead to jobs or four-year degrees.
Should I still apply to Clinton Community College?
Yes. If you were considering applying to Clinton Community College, you should continue with your application for Spring, Summer or Fall 2025. The college’s move to its new location will not interrupt academic offerings or students’ progress toward earning a degree.
How will this affect current students?
Currently enrolled students will be transitioned to the new location smoothly, with plenty of support from Clinton Community College faculty and administration.
Is Clinton Community College a SUNY school?
Yes. Like all community colleges outside of New York City, Clinton is part of the State University of New York. That means Clinton students get a trusted SUNY education, low SUNY tuition for New Yorkers, robust student support, and a seamless pathway to a four-year degree at SUNY.
What will happen with the current buildings used by the college?
The buildings now occupied by Clinton Community College are owned by Clinton County. The county will review and determine their best future use. In line with our comprehensive planning process, decisions will be made to ensure these buildings serve the best interests of the broader community.
