Exceptions and Special Considerations in Advising
Humanities and Social Sciences
"COM" denotes a Humanities course, except for COM 100, which can only be counted as a free elective.
Credit will not be given for both ECO 100 and ECO 101 or ECO 102, due to the similarity and overlap of course content.
ENG 100 College Reading can only be counted as a free elective.
ENG 120 Critical Reading can be counted as a Humanities course or a free elective, but can only be counted as an English course if taken prior to Fall '06 or after Fall '09.
HIS 121, 122, 131 and 132 can be counted as Social Science, Humanities or elective credits.
Science and Math
Students who receive credit for BIO101 or BIO102 cannot receive science credit for BIO100. BIO100 will only count as free elective credit. BIO100 will count as science credit for students who have not received credit for BIO101or BIO102.
Students who receive credit for CHE111 or CHE112 cannot receive science credit for CHE101. CHE101 will only count as free elective credit. CHE101 will count as science credit for students who have not received credit for CHE111or CHE112.
Students who receive credit for PHY111 or PHY112 cannot receive science credit for PHY100. PHY100 will only count as free elective credit. PHY100 will count as science credit for students who have not received credit for PHY111or PHY112.
GEL 100 and GEL 101 - Students receiving credit for GEL 101 cannot receive credit for GEL 100.
MAT 100 can only be counted as a free elective. Students who will be moving on to MAT104 or MAT105 will need a C- or better in MAT100 (students can still move on to MAT103 with a D or higher in MAT100.
Students must earn a CN/70% or better to pass MAT096 and MAT098
Grades
Transferring "D" grades: Some D grades will transfer to other colleges and universities. For more detailed information one should consult the transfer advisor or program coordinator at the transfer institution. SUNY Plattsburgh will not accept "D" grades in English 101.
"W" grades do not count against the QPA, nor do they count as completed courses. "W" indicates one of two things: that a student was removed from a course for not attending, or that the student dropped a course after the College's Date of Record.
