Clinton Community College's nursing program prepares students for the responsibilities of a nursing career with hands on learning and clinicals. Our commitment to excellence is reflected in our NCLEX pass rates: 81.48% in 2021, 93.54% in 2022, and 96.15% in 2023.
Students who earn a Nursing A.A.S. degree are prepared for immediate job placement in hospitals, nursing homes, and a variety of community agencies and can become certified in any area of interest. Some popular career options are:

The academic program in professional nursing is fully described in the Clinton Community College Catalog. The program is fully registered by the University of the State of New York Board of Regents. The program of study in professional nursing is tightly organized and sequential. Students must follow the prescribed course sequencing published in the handbook and the college catalog. Students may earn course credit by enrollment, transfer or advanced placement according to college and Nursing Program policy. Your academic advisor will help you register for each semester. Students desiring transfer credit for previous college work must follow the procedures as defined in the College Catalog.
SUNY Clinton Community College Nursing's curriculum and its program of study meets the educational requirements by the Board of Regents in New York State to award an Associate in Applied Science Degree (AAS) with a major in nursing. Graduates are eligible to take the NCLEX-RN exam for Registered Nurse licensure in New York. Other states may have different educational requirements for program completion and licensure requirements. Educating students to integrate the science and caring art of nursing, while providing safe, quality, patient-centered care, and utilizing evidence-based practice, teamwork and technology.
- greater than or equal to 55% of students registered in NUR103 after the date of record complete the program within 3 years.
- greater than or equal to 80% of nursing graduates responding to the survey will report being adequately prepared for the role of an entry level RN.
- greater than or equal to 85% of graduates responding to the survey will agree they met the Graduate Learning Outcomes.
- greater than or equal to 80% of graduates responding to the survey or via informal contact, seeking employment as RNs will be employed within nine months.
- greater than or equal to 85% of employers responding to the survey agree that graduates met GLO's.
- greater than or equal to 85% of employers will report CCC graduates are able to function as a safe entry level nurse.
- performance of CCC nursing graduates on the NCLEX-RN will meet or exceed national pass rates.
The Clinton Community College Associate Degree Nursing Program prepares graduates who will:
- consistently analyze and apply standards of nursing practice in functioning with integrity as a safe entry level nurse.
- examine and utilize caring behaviors in providing holistic care for diverse populations.
- communicate effectively and/or therapeutically with patients, families, and other members of the health care team.
- utilize self awareness in the development of professional identity and demonstrate a commitment to lifelong learning.
- apply acquired critical reasoning skills to develop, implement, and evaluate a nursing plan of care.
Nursing applications must be submitted by June 30 for the fall term.
The Nursing admissions process is very competitive due to the high number of applicants. Candidates are urged to review the general college and specific nursing admission requirements, which are cited in the college catalog. Each applicant must successfully complete all pre-requisite courses with a "C" grade or higher, before applying for entry into the nursing program. Students who have attended another nursing school must submit a letter from the prior school concerning their ability to return.
Nursing candidates must complete the nursing application in addition to the standard Clinton application for admission. If you have previously applied to Clinton, it is not necessary to re-apply using the standard application.
