CCC Hosts Touch the Torch Event to Celebrate Olympic History

Clinton Community College hosted the Touch the Torch event, celebrating the 45th anniversary of the XIII Olympic Winter Games Opening Torch Ceremonies. The event featured Carol Arnold, a proud Clinton alum and former Olympic torchbearer, who shared her once-in-a-lifetime experience participating in the 1980 Winter Olympics Torch Relay in Lake Placid.

Attendees had the opportunity to hear firsthand about Arnold’s journey as she showcased the torch she carried, along with her medal and uniform from the event. The gathering provided a meaningful way for students, faculty, and community members to engage with Olympic history and celebrate the legacy of the Games.

“We are thrilled with the turnout for this event,” said Steven Frederick, Vice President for Institutional Advancement at Clinton Community College. “Carol’s story and the opportunity to see the torch up close made for an unforgettable experience.”

The Touch the Torch event was part of Clinton Community College’s ongoing commitment to providing unique and engaging opportunities for students and the local community.
