CCC Welcomes Alum and Olympic Torchbearer Carol Arnold for Special Presentation

Clinton Community College (CCC) is proud to welcome 1973 graduate Carol Arnold for a special presentation in honor of the 45th anniversary of the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid. Carol was one of 52 individuals—one from each state and two additional participants—selected to carry the Olympic torch in the 1980 Olympic Torch Relay.

The “Touch the Torch” event will take place on Monday, February 10, at 12 PM in the Moore 2nd Floor Atrium on the CCC campus. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear Carol share the story of how she became part of this historic event. She will also showcase the torch she carried, the medal she received, and the official uniform she wore during the relay. Students and community members will have the chance to hold the torch and ask Carol questions about her experience.

Carol is an active member of the CCC Alumni Association Board of Directors and Plattsburgh Rotary. She is also on the board of directors of the Clinton County Historical Association. Her visit promises to be a unique opportunity to learn about a piece of Olympic history from someone who lived it.

This event is free and open to the public, with no registration required. Guests can enter the Moore 2nd Floor Atrium by taking the stairs outside the main building to the second floor and entering through the double doors.
