Academic Background and Interests

I currently teach in the discipline areas of Business, Communications, and English. Early in my career, I taught English, Speech and Drama to 7-12 grade students in Cincinnati, Ohio and worked as a Central Research Supervisor and Human Resource Facilitator for the JC Penny Corporation Regional Credit Division located in Ohio.  In recent years, I have enjoyed blending my academic focus and professional career by taking on work as a private, communication consultant for businesses and organizations in the North Country, and I have served as a facilitator of workshops.

Personal Interests and Hobbies

I love theatrical productions, and I have a special fondness for local, community theater. I like to stay in motion all seasons of the year with my family. I enjoy taking long walks with two, ginormous dogs, a Rottweiler/Lab Mix and a German Shepard, downhill skiing at Whiteface Mountain, camping, kayaking, and most recently, archery target shooting.

Keys to Success

Be curious. Be respectful. Be kind. Keep focus on setting goals and working to achieve them. Make choices in life and in work that expand your options and fill your days with meaning and purpose.  Studs Turkel is my life-long source for professional inspiration and captures my thoughts on successful work perfectly in the following quote:
"It is about a search, too, for daily meaning as well as daily bread, for recognition as well as cash, for astonishment rather than torpor; in short, for a sort of life rather than a Monday through Friday sort of dying...."- Studs Terkel
