Academic Background and Interests

My affinity for math began early in life. I can remember that as a kid I enjoyed counting change, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and even loving mad minute worksheets in elementary school. In the fourth grade, I was dared $5 by my friends to finish all of the math problems in our entire math book in one weekend and I did it.
I entered college as a chemistry major but ended up switching to math when I found myself truly enjoying my math tutoring job I had in college. I felt a great deal of satisfaction helping others work through math problems and improve with practice.

Personal Interests and Hobbies

Outside of work, my ultimate favorite things to do always involve spending time with my husband and two teenagers. Usually these activities include running, hiking, kayaking, traveling, cooking, and eating. I probably spend more time running than doing anything else because I seem to have a running addiction.

Keys to Success

Work hard. Play hard. Be honest. Choose kindness. Listen more than you speak. Surround yourself with people that empower you, value you, and support your goals. Step outside your comfort zone from time to time. Do not fear mistakes. Real learning occurs through experience and there is just no substitute for experience.
